Mary Jeanne B.
Private tutor in Santiago, Chile
Education
I graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2013 with degrees in Spanish and Anthropology. I worked hard and earned a cumulative GPA of 3.67. I also earned a CELTA certificate for teaching English in Santiago, Chile, where I live and work full-time.
Experience
I have worked in Santiago, Chile as a full time English teacher and tutor for over 3 years now. I have a CELTA certificate for English teaching. My students range in age from as young as 4 years old to adults in their 50s. In my opinion, studying another language is one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself. It enriches your life in every aspect. That's why I moved to Chile - I loved studying Spanish and school and knew that my ultimate goal was to become fluent in Spanish, and then become a Spanish teacher. After living my life in Spanish for over 3 years, I feel like I have achieved my goal of being fluent, and I'm ready to help others experience the joy of learning Spanish.

Hobbies
I love music and pop culture. I always try to work critical thinking skills into my lessons, so they generally include reading about current events, discussing opinions, and debating. I encourage classes to be based in communication and expression, because ultimately, that's what we use language for. I also like to teach students a bit of culture to help them place the language in a broader context.
